Visual Research
Satoki Nagata was an artist that was born and raised in Japan and begun becoming a photographer while he was studying within high school. After graduating form university he then moved to America in 1992 where he began to photograph various different aspects of Chicago. From Buddhism he learnt that our existing is composed of all sorts of relationships, photography has then inspired him to find relationships with the world to find himself. His photography is generally based on ordinary people within the city of Chicago.
Building
This is one of my favorite photos by Satoki Nagata as I believe that he uses Multiplicity to the full potential within this photo as it is almost as if it is a path over the top of the sight of the building. As with his work it is generally to build relationships and bonds. As with him travelling from Japan I believe that this piece shows that it is a path that leads to success as you can get into important buildings like the one shown in the photo. It is black and white to show the hard path of capitalism. This links to my project as it shows good use of multiple imagery as he uses effects that I would be able to use within Photoshop. I really like the use of the building and I think that I will base my multiple imagery on buildings as it is an interest of mine as I have plenty of photographs of various different buildings around the UK from my travel.
Quality Garments
Within this piece we again see that Satoki Nagata has used multiple imagery as he has two seperate photos, one of the manufacturer and another of a woman. Then placed the woman above with the opacity of her lowered. This then creates and effect as if she is just a ghost. As Satoki looks at relationships it could be the relationship of women within manufacturing as they still aren't as common within generally labour jobs such as manufacturing, mechanics and engineering etc. This links to my project again due ot the process in which he has created this image as he has made the woman less visible, I will look to use this effect within my project on many of my images as I believe that it looks re
